Description:
Sintered titanium beads on unfinished surface of a metal component produced by ‘additive manufacturing’. High strength components with complex shapes are made using a computer guided laser to sinter metal powders (tiny beads). The final shape is built up layer by layer, similarly to 3D printing, but at higher precision.
Equipment used:
FEI Inspect S Scanning Electron Microscope. 5kV, Spot 3.0, Stage tilted, dynamic focus, Image width 374 microns
