“Contour Map”: A Discotriaene support spicule of a sponge.
Through the use of Jamin Lebedeff Interferometry, a 3D-like image of the sponge plate is formed. Coloured contour lines reveal, like a map, height differences in the crystal plate. Colours reveal phase-shift differences due to refractive index / height variations across the plate. From these, it is possible to measure the weight of the object and to construct a three dimensional model.
