Nanosensors: Shedding Light on Cancer

Description:
This image pictures spherical nanoparticles, 150 nm in diameter, interacting with MCF7 breast cancer extracellular material. We use these to quantitatively measure redox potential and pH by functionalising the nanoparticles with redox and pH sensitive molecules and monitoring bond vibrations using surface enhanced raman scattering.
