Heligmosomiodes polygyrus is a gut parasite which is found naturally in wild mice. It is also key to current scientific research into asthma, vaccine development and host-pathogen immune responses. This image shows a cross section of murine gut where the worm (green circles) can be seen nestling between intestinal villi.
