Jury

The jury is composed of the following members:

Professor Marc Desmulliez, FInstP, FIET, is Director of the Research Institute of Sensors, Signals and Systems (ISSS) of the School of Engineering of Engineering & Physical Sciences (EPS) at Heriot- Watt University. He is also the Director /Founder of the Microsystems Engineering Centre (MISEC) (www.misec.eps.hw.ac.uk/). His research interests have turned recently to novel micro manufacturing technologies and microstructures whose engineering principles are borrowed from nature. He has held grants of compounded value of more than £12M as PI/CI, published over 396 journal papers or conference proceedings articles and holds 8 patents related to advanced manufacturing processes. Prof. Desmulliez also established the first UK Master of Science in Microsystems Engineering in 2001. More recently, he is one of Co-Is of the Programme Grant Sonopill, that aims to look at ultrasound imaging technologies capable of being packaged with an ingestible capsule for the diagnostic of pathologies within the GI tract.
