The radula is a tongue-like structure used by Gastropods to rasp plant material from the substrate over which they are crawling. Variable Asymmetrical Contrast with Blue-yellow bicolour polarizer. Horizontal Field Width = 500um.

Zeiss Ultraphot 3 with X10/0.32 planapo objective. Canon EOS 5D Mk 2 camera

The tongue-like structure appears here to be made of shining blue glass. The composition, along with the flame-coloured highlights on the form captures the feeling of upward or downward movement beautifully.
